The history of MP3-format appearance

The history of MP3-standart appearance goes to recent past. In the beginning of 90-ties nobody could guess, that in 5-7 years this format would become widely spread in all the world.

One cannot but agree, that in present time almost all audio data are stored in MP3-format (MPEG Audio Layer III). As it is well known, it was developed by Moving Pictures Experts Group for the program archiving of the digital audio information not for mass using. The algorithm of coding allowed to «compress» the initial material many times according to the required quality of the output information. The determinative feature of the coding was the density of the dataflow (Bitrate).

Briefly about the MP3 characneristics

Different number of bitrate allowed to change the derivable sound quality from the minimum, compared to the sound in the telephone line (8 kbps 11025 Hz),to the CD Audio-level (320 kbps 44100 kHz). Compressing with 128 bitreit is the most popular because of the optimal correlation between the size of the saved (transmitted) information and the quality of the recording. However, the bitrate from the 160 kbps and higher is the most close to the sounding of CD. Yielding to Audio CD in no one respect this format quickly became popular.
